Just thought I'd briefly relate a pretty cool story. When I had just over a year in the mission I was transferred to a new area where they had been teaching a man who wanted to get baptized but was struggling with the concept of tithing. The branch president in that area went to talk to him and said something to the extent of, "You have to realize that God doesn't need your money, He's all powerful and money's nothing to Him. Paying tithing is a blessing to you and He commands us to pay it so that He can bless us." What the man heard was, "You're money's not good enough for God." So, when I got there he was super offended and we worked with him for a couple of months before finally giving up. We had also tried working with his wife who insisted that she was not at all interested.
Well, it's been few years now. The other day I was talking with Nathan Faler, my companion at the time we were teaching this guy, and he told me that he had made a trip recently to Argentina. Much to our surprise, this man is now an incredibly active member of the church and recently baptized his daughter. Only somewhat more surprising, his wife is also an incredibly active and lively member. Cool to hear that work so long ago was not for naught.
